Lent [day 23]… [Monday, 7 March 2016]

Reflecting back on my sermon from Saturday night — it was pretty good — maybe go to www.builtontheword.com and check it out? I shared 5 “dangers” on the road to RESTORATION…

Jesus prayed for Peter and promised him a future beyond his failure EVEN THOUGH he knew Peter was about to crash and burn and DENY him 3x…

Jesus even shared the bread and cup with Judas [see John 13.26] before he consummated his betrayal of Jesus Messiah — that’s pretty radical of Jesus…

In reflecting on John 13, I love what Alicia Britt Chole has to say: “At the table, Jesus washed the feet of a betrayer, a denier and ten deserters! Think of someone who has betrayed you, denied your love or run away from you in time of need. What would it take, what would it mean, for you to wash their feet?”

Wonder why we don’t wash feet anymore?

Maybe we have simply grown TOO sophisticated for that…

When I was younger and growing up Pentecostal, we DID wash feet and I severely dreaded it — YUK!!! And yes, I do have stories of some pretty bad experiences…

But now, I am feeling a desire to wash feet again… I am feeling the need to as a means of receiving Jesus’ grace afresh… My heart longs to minister afresh with such humble simplicity JUST AS JESUS DID…

I am hoping Justin and Chelsea carry through with their plan for a feet washing at their wedding in late August…

If so, I AM IN [and looking forward to worshiping with you in that kairos moment on your special covenant day]…

Anybody else out there wanna give it a try?

If Jesus could wash the feet of his ragamuffin band of followers, maybe it would be good for me as well…

Even the betrayers…

Even the deniers…

Even those who cut and run…

Blessings!!!
